1. Maximize noise reduction,1100-1

2. Make possible to use 2″ filters,

3. Efficient Cooling

4. Safety from external shock

These 4 goals are our new concept for CDS-1100D and CDS-600D.

We expand the boundary of modification to entire camera housing design and gave birth to new cooled cameras.

Cooling Performance-The back cover housing is designed as a heatsink. It’s large surface area exposed to air make a efficient cooling module.
camera_body

Heatsink – Peltier – Cold Finger – Image Sensor are aligned in line on the center od optical axis. The coupling of these heat transfering elements are coupled by high strength screw enhances the efficiency of cooling. While the same cooling performance the current consumption has been reduced by about 25% than Astro60D.After removal of camera’s original Low-Pass Filter,

We installed optical polished Hoya MC Clear filter of highest transmition characteristics This filter allow the transmition of visible light and IR( 400nm~).

The DSLRs have no room between the rear part of lens and mirror box. To make a room at back of camera lens, we removed the

existing mirror box, pentaprism, view finder. And we provided a 2″ filter holder at the body mount ring. Using this holder you can use 2″ filters for astro imaging without any interference with the rear part of camera lens.
Acording to your choice of the 2″ filters you can takevisible ray ~ IR, and narrow band shots. CDS-1100D, 600D will be more creative asto-imaging tools for your profesional needs.
Backyard EOS program provides very useful FWHM value of focusing tool working at Live view mode ofcamera. You can determine sasily the composition of view and focus accurately.

We don’t provide digital thermometer for Image sensor temperature as former cooled DSLR models.

If you take a picture at BackyardEOS you can read immediately the sensor temperature value at program window and this valuerecorded at file name also. From a thermistor of CMOS circuit board installed by Canon the temperature value is delivered to control software of camera.
We added a thermister on to CMOS and have got the temperature value and it’s 3~4℃ lower than the value of BackyardEOS window. This gap was caused by the canon’s thermistor position is not on the CMOS, in the PCB 1.5mm spaced apart from CMOS.

In case of CDS-1100D, CDS-600D clod block covered the CMOS module entirely and the gap was only 3~4℃. But in case of Astro60D the gap was more wider. We guess this is caused by the the U shape cold finger and the CMOS module are opened to surrounding air.
shieldcold fingerPrevent condensation: All contact surfaces between heatsink and body housing, body mount and clear filter, all the screws are applied silicon O-ring for perfect seal. In the inner space we installed morecular sieve desiccant to minimize the absolute water vapor of airtight chamber.
The clear filter is wormed by the heat from heatsink and maintained the temperature over dew point.
Enhanced noise immunity: The housing material of EOS 1100D, 600D are plastic and this is easy to be affected by electric noise comming from outside. The sealed metal housing of CDS-1100D,CDS-600D protecting the inner electric circuit and added the ground connection from main board, power board, storage board to base housing made more stronger anti-noise system. This aluminum alloy housing of CDS-1100D, CDS-600D is more durable and resistant to shock than Astro50D, Astro60D.

Dark Frame Comparison (in Photoshop 255 -> 100 Level Stretched)

As shown at upper test images, we can find that the uncooled image of CDS-1100D (Center) is significantly improved from EOS 1100D(EOS Rebel T3)’s dark image (Left).

cds-1100dThe Li-ion battery module of EOS 1100D(EOS Rebel T3), 600D(EOS Rebel T3i) are removed and we made 12V power circuit for canon camera part and cooling parts.
Reversed voltage protection circuit are added for protect Canon parts and cooling module.
New cooling fan: 2 Ball bearing silent fan realize remarkable quietness  without vibration.

    Hello:
With the new EOS camera mount design, what is the sensor to camera mount distance? It was stated as 43.5 mm with the previous EOS mount.
Also, what is the distance for the sensor to the mounting ring?

Hello, I ask at the technicians if is possible to apply the traditional canon lenses after the introduction of a 2″ h alpha ring filter on the 600 CDS’s connection? The scheme would be 600 CDS + 2″ every ring filter + adapter Canon + Canon lenses (50 mm – 200 mm ecc.) ?
Is essential to a specific brand of 2″ ring filter for compatibility with the camera?
    Thanks for your attention! Mike
